The Tarrant County College Nursing Department (TCC) offers an accredited 15-month Fast-Track Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Nursing degree through a credit-by-exam process. Schools Scholarships Student Support
Tarrant County College was established in 1965 to provide accessible and affordable education to the residents of Tarrant County. The college initially opened its doors as Tarrant County Junior College (TCJC) with a focus on providing two-year academic and technical programs. The college has multiple campuses throughout Tarrant County, including locations in Fort Worth, Arlington, Hurst, and more.
The fast-track Associate of Applies Science (AAS) program was designed by Tarrant County College to offer an option that shortens the program completion time from 24 to 15 months through a credit-by-exam process.
The Fast-track option should be considered if the applicant can commit to a full-time schedule for 15 months. Part-time and evening options are not available for this track.
After requirements are met for Tarrant County College's Nursing AAS program, students will be eligible to take the State Board Examination for Licensure (NCLEX- RN ).
Once the graduate passes the NCLEX-RN examination, the successful candidate will then be eligible for state RN licensure.
The Tarrant County College Nursing Program combines nursing and general education as well as clinical experiences in a wide variety of area health care facilities. All clinical experiences are supervised by experienced nursing faculty.
TCC offers nursing courses on campus in different formats to fit the applicant's needs. Such formats include face-to-face, blended, hybrid, and online courses.
Nursing exams are computerized and are given on campus.
Nursing Theory Courses are offered Monday through Friday during the day and must follow the set sequence.
General Education Courses are offered at various times during the day and evening/night.
Weekdays and weekends: All day from 6:30 a.m till 6:30 p.m
Evenings: May last until approximately 9:30 p.m.
For applicants that are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, options are available for RN to BSN programs at Tarleton State University, the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Tech University.
Tarrant County College's Associate Degree Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Tarrant County College District (TCCD) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
TCC Nursing programs are approved by the State of Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
